New research has found that online daters should take care what username they use to maximise their internet dating success. Playful and flirtatious names such as “fun2talkwith” or “i’msweet” were ranked top by both men and women daters as those they would most like to contact. Physical descriptors such as “cutie” or “blueeyes” were close behind.

“These names suggest an outgoing or fun nature, or clarify the user’s positive physical appearance,” said Dr Monica Whitty, a lecturer in cyber-psychology at Nottingham Trent University and co-author of the paper.

However she advised that women should avoid screen names which attempt to be classy, or show how clever they are. Because username should tell something about yourself. If you are shy person and your username "Like2TalkwithAnyone" lonely males will attack you because their expectations are different from your personality.

If we talk about choosing username for single women we should take into consideration following fact reseasch have shown. Single males said they would be less likely to contact screen names such as “wellread” or “welleducated”, however women women were more drawn to names that suggested men were cultured.

“Less flirtatious names may be more appealing to women because they are wary of men who might be using the site to find one-night stands rather than long-term relationships,” Dr Whitty said.

Straightforward or plain names such as “smith24” or “justme” were also considered less appealing because such usernames will never mark out your dating profile from thousands other profiles online dating services usually have.

Worst usernames for using dating services (for both men and women) are names denoting wealth such as ‘wealthyandwise’, ‘lovemyporsche’ or ‘entrepreneur’.

“This was a very surprising finding. We believe wealthy-sounding names fared poorly because showing off about one’s wealth from the outset might reflect a superficial personality or deceit,” Dr Whitty said. “We know from other research that women are generally attracted by wealth, but it seems they are well aware people embellish themselves online and it makes them suspicious.”

When choosing username for dating service it's highly recommended to think twice because your online success will depend from this. Your dating username should underline your personality & character but at the same time it should not be too much offensive or popular one. When choosing username you should pursuit goal to draw opposite sex member attention. When browsing sites women were more tending to contact "Less flirtatious" names like "wellread" while males are tending to contact usernames with physical descriptors ("sexyone", "blueyes" and so on."
